Yesterday, news broke that Katharine McPhee landed the female lead role in CBS’ genius drama pilot ‘Scorpion’. It seems like they’re not wasting any time getting started on this project, because Katharine just posted a behind-the-scenes photo from the Los Angeles set! “Soooo this is pretty much the outfit on Scorpion pilot I’m working on. Keeping it simple. Have a lovely day!” she wrote on Instagram.

Here’s a brief synopsis about the show:

Based on the life of Walter O’Brien, the drama revolves around Walter (Body of Proof’s Elyes Gabel), an eccentric genius who recruits the world’s greatest intellects to his company where they not only solve the world’s most pressing and significant problems, but also help each other learn to fit-in and live in a world where literally being “one in a billion” can be as lonely as it sounds.

Kat will play the role of Paige, a diner waitress and mother of a 9-year-old introvert, Ralph. As an individual who was also misunderstood in his youth, Walter is intrigued by Ralph and makes an unspoken connection with him. In time, Paige becomes a caretaker of sorts and translator for Walter’s super team of socially misunderstood masterminds.

Paige is described as, “everything we want in a hero, capable, strong-willed, damaged but proud, and nobody’s fool.” Although she may have that motherly touch that Walter’s team desperately needs, she’s also got sass and she isn’t afraid to put them in their place.
