Katharine McPhee was one of the performers on the LoveLife:LIVESTREAM, a celebrity talent show with a goal to raise $100,000 to build three schools in Senegal, Africa.
The event was hosted by actor Travis Van Winkle for buildOn, a non-profit organization that empowers urban youth to transform their neighborhoods and to change the world by building schools in some of the poorest countries in the world. The fundraiser was a big success, exceeding its goal and assuring that all three schools get built.
During the event, Katharine lent her voice with a lovely performance of “Heart Shaped Wreckage.” Inspired by the cause, she donated $30,000 herself, which is enough to build an entire school. This will be the third school built as a partnership between Kat and buildOn. She first teamed up with the organization to build two schools in Burkina Faso back in 2014.

Although this particular fundraiser is over, buildOn continually works to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations, and can only do this with our support. Click here for information on donating. Every bit makes an impact!
