After months of anticipation, the concert presentation of Bombshell delighted a sold-out crowd at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway last night.
As a benefit event for The Actors Fund, the one-night-only engagement raised over $800,000 for the organization which serves more than 21,000 performing arts and entertainment professionals across the country every year.
The concert also acted as the biggest Smash reunion to date. The unforgettable songs of the fictional Marilyn Monroe musical, written and composed by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, were brought to life by many of the show’s stars for the first time on the Great White Way.
As the dueling Marilyns of Smash, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty were naturally the two leading ladies of the night. Will Chase, Christian Borle, Jeremy Jordan, Ann Harada, Brian d’Arcy James, and Wesley Taylor were also featured performers. Debra Messing provided narration between songs.
Josh Bergasse choreographed the dance numbers and also directed alongside Wittman. Neil Meron and Craig Zadan produced.
Videos from the concert have begun surfacing online. Check out Katharine’s stunning performances below!
The show opened with Katharine and Megan singing fan favorite “Let Me Be Your Star.”
Kat then took the stage for an exciting performance of “The 20th Century Fox Mambo” before leading into a lovely rendition of “Never Give All the Heart.”
During Act 2 of the show, Kat performed the crowd-pleaser “Public Relations” with the help of Wes Taylor.
Bombshell came to an end with a triumphant duet of “Don’t Forget Me” by Kat and Megan, which made the crowd jump to their feet in delight.
After the first curtain call, Kat and Megan returned to the stage once more for an encore performance of “Big Finish,” which was also the final number of the Smash series.
Concertgoers will forever remember this truly special concert celebrating the heart of Smash, its stunning original music and extraordinarily talented cast.
