Katharine McPhee is heading back to the world of TV movies. She announced the news on Instagram, while giving fans an update as to why she won’t be able to make a trip to Jordan with the humanitarian organization World Vision.
Katharine will star in the Lifetime movie The Lost Wife of Robert Durst, which is based on the book “A Deadly Secret” by Matt Birkbeck. David Gillies is slated to play Robert Durst, and Katharine will be playing the wife, Kathie Durst.
Production in Vancouver, Canada was pushed up, and Katharine was unable to get out of it to fulfill her charity obligation. She announced that she will be making a donation in her absence, and will make the trip at a later date when her schedule opens up.
Per Deadline, the movie centers on the wife of Robert Durst. Young and wide-eyed, Kathie (McPhee) falls in love with charming yet quirky real estate scion Robert Durst (Gillies), only to find their marriage turning stranger, darker and more disturbing as time passes. When Kathie vanishes in 1982, her family and friends are deeply disturbed that her disappearance isn’t taken seriously by police.
While Durst is currently in jail awaiting trial for the murder of his close friend, journalist Susan Berman, the questions linger as to what really happened to Kathie. The Lost Wife of Robert Durst pulls back the curtain on the world of Robert Durst and explores what may have happened between him and Kathie.
