Katharine McPhee is heading back to the world of TV movies. She announced the news on Instagram, while giving fans an update as to why she won’t be able to make a trip to Jordan with the humanitarian organization‎ World Vision.

Katharine will star in the Lifetime movie The Lost Wife of Robert Durst, which is based on the book “A Deadly Secret” by Matt Birkbeck. David Gillies is slated to play Robert Durst, and Katharine will be playing the wife, Kathie Durst.

Production in Vancouver, Canada was pushed up, and Katharine was unable to get out of it to fulfill her charity obligation. She announced that she will be making a donation in her absence, and will make the trip at a later date when her schedule opens up.

Per Deadline, the movie centers on the wife of Robert Durst. Young and wide-eyed, Kathie (McPhee) falls in love with charming yet quirky real estate scion Robert Durst (Gillies), only to find their marriage turning stranger, darker and more disturbing as time passes. When Kathie vanishes in 1982, her family and friends are deeply disturbed that her disappearance isn’t taken seriously by police.

While Durst is currently in jail awaiting trial for the murder of his close friend, journalist Susan Berman, the questions linger as to what really happened to Kathie. The Lost Wife of Robert Durst pulls back the curtain on the world of Robert Durst and explores what may have happened between him and Kathie.

My home for the next month in #Vancouver working/shooting on a project called The Lost Wife of Robert Durst. For those who were following my upcoming trip to Jordan with this AMAZING organization @worldvisionusa, I had to cancel my trip last minute when production came to me and moved up the start date. I was so sad that I had to bail from a commitment I made to them but also had already been in contract with this film from 4 weeks ago. I always like to honor my word but there wasn't much I could do. I'm thrilled to be working up here and on this new project but also wanted to share my disappointment that the dates didn't work. I will get on another trip with this organization and will be making a donation in honor of my absence. Wanted to keep those who were interested in my journey there aware. ❤️💋
